    About the club

    The Glenorchy City Tennis Club is situated in Cameron Reserve, Berriedale and commenced operations in 1980. The club has 6 synthetic grass courts and a well appointed clubhouse.

    Membership is open to all and new members are particularly welcome. Our club is friendly and caters for all standards of players. To keep members up to date on what is happening within the club, each member or family receives a monthly newsletter detailing upcoming tournaments, social events and other 'club' information.

    As of March 1998 the Glenorchy Tennis Club has a membership comprising approximately 150 senior and 50 juniors - a total of about 200 members.The club committee organises and co-ordinates a variety of events and activities throughout the year .

    Senior events

    • Open tournament
    • Veterans day
    • National tennis fun day
    • Pro-am tournament
    • Club Championships
    • Monthly tournaments
    • AYC night competition (minimum of 84 members participate each week against 17 other clubs in 12 or 13 divisions from September until March.
    • Mid-week ladies competition
    • Sunday mixed social tennis (approx 30 members each week)
    • Thursday night Mens social tennis
    • Ladies social tennis (Monday and Friday mornings)
    • Intra-club pennant (during winter months May-August)
    • Glenorchy vs Geilston Bay Tennis Club grudge match (May annually)

    Junior events

    • Junior Development Committee Roster (4-12 members participating against 6 other clubs in a weekly pennant)
    • Intra-club pennant
    • Junior club championships
    • Intra-club round robin (May-August)

    Coaching

    On any given week the club would have approximately 250 people attending the various tennis events held. The club is also used 5 days a week by the resident coach and Junior Convenor David Tunbridge. He offers coaching at all levels from juniors to seniors. In addition he conducts coaching through the Adult Education Program.

    In addition to the club being used by the resident coach it is also used by schools and colleges and junior associations within the district .
